My Favourite Time

By Kevin Godden, Superintendent of Schools

I love the Christmas season; for most of us it is a favourite time of year. Right now, schools all throughout the District are deep in the throws of their Christmas concerts. Having attended many of them over the years, I know just how much care and effort is put into them by everyone, especially our teachers. It is often an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned about the meaning of Christmas in our society. We recently had the “Royal Prince Charles Choir” perform for us at our December Superintendent’s meeting. They were amazing. Special thanks again to Principal Cam Friesen and choir director Mr. Studeman.

It can never be overstated that Christmas is a time for gratefulness. While we all look forward to our winter break and the many festivities, it is also a reminder that there are others far less fortunate than we (who could benefit from our help), and that we have much to be thankful for in our lives. The tragic events of this fall are a reminder about just how precious life, family and friends are. I am thankful that I have a wonderful family and work with an amazing team of professionals.

As this week winds down and we enter in to Winter Break, I wish everyone a restful and joyous Christmas. I hope that you are able to express thanks for the blessings in your lives and that each of you gets to spend some quality time with your loved ones.
